Tangerine Mulberry Silk Banarasi Sari with Nandi Butas and Chevron Zari Border

A deep tangerine mulberry silk Banarasi carrying one of the more unusual motifs in the Banaras repertoire — Nandi butas, the sacred bull, scattered across the body in silver-toned zari. Some standing in pairs, some reclining, each woven with the kind of detail that only shows itself up close. Against the orange ground they read almost like they're glowing.

The border runs a firm geometric — temple spikes rising into rows of chevrons in silver zari — and the pallu is a full diamond lattice panel, neatly framed by the same zigzag border. Orange silk tassels finish the end.
