Orchid Violet Kanjeevaram Silk Sari with All-Over Floral Vine Jaal and Paisley Zari Border

An orchid violet Kanjeevaram where the entire body is given over to a trailing floral vine jaal — roses, small blossoms and leaves winding continuously across the silk in silver-toned zari, leaving almost no ground visible. It's a dense, uninterrupted weave that takes considerable time on the loom, and the weight of it shows in how the sari holds and drapes.

The border runs a row of framed paisley motifs in gold-toned zari on a deeper violet ground, a quieter finish than the busy body that gives the eye somewhere to rest. The pallu opens into plain orchid silk — the same vivid purple-pink as the ground — letting the jaal speak for itself before the drape falls away into clean colour.

The contrast between the heavily worked body and the plain pallu is deliberate, and it works particularly well at the shoulder where both surfaces meet.
