The piece & its details
An ivory Banarasi worked almost tone-on-tone, with a trellis jaal across the body and small floral butas in gold-toned zari. The pattern catches light more than colour, which is exactly the charm.
The border carries a floral bel between fine pink-flecked stripes, and the pallu deepens into rows of fan and floral motifs with the same rani pink running through. Quietly formal, and beautiful with gold, pearl or uncut stones.
