Dusty Rose Banarasi Katan Silk Sari with Silver-Toned Zari Jaal

Woven in katan silk by weavers and established handloom houses in Banaras, this sari holds its whole story in a single quiet register: dusty rose on dusty rose, lit with silver-toned zari that reads closer to moonlight than metal.

The body carries a fine geometric jaal — a diamond trellis picked out in zari, each cell set with a small square buti, so the shimmer sits evenly across the drape rather than gathering in patches. The border turns floral, with scrolling bel work framed by fine patterned bands, and the pallu opens into the richest weaving of the piece: rows of flowering vines, layered borders and a diamond trellis, finished with hand-knotted silk tassels in the same rose.

Katan silk gives it its character — fine and supple, with just enough body to pleat crisply and fall clean. Tone-on-tone pieces like this reward restrained styling: pearls, polki or silver-finish jewellery, and very little else.
