The piece & its details
A champagne gold mulberry silk Banarasi worked almost wall-to-wall in zari — a trellis of square compartments covers the body, each one holding a floral rosette in mixed gold and silver-pink toned zari. The ground barely shows through, which is the point: this is a piece built for evening light, where the zari takes over entirely.
The pallu opens into a diamond lattice of the same depth, punctuated by circular medallions and framed by a scrolling vine border on all sides. Mixed pink and yellow-green silk tassels finish the end.
The blouse piece is a deliberate contrast — a rich red silk densely covered in kalga butas — pairing the warmth of the body with something more vivid at the shoulder.
An evening wedding sari, full stop. The kind of piece that reads as gold from across a room and reveals its detail up close.
