The piece & its details
A soft aqua Banarasi in katan silk, woven with a flowing floral jaal in gold-toned zari. Vines, kalga buds and blooms link across the body, with meenakari flowers in orange, magenta, yellow and lilac lifting the whole piece.
The border carries the same vine work, and the pallu becomes a full brocade panel dense with pattern from edge to edge. It works as hard at a wedding lunch as it does at an evening reception — slow meenakari work, and it shows.
